56 — Content Strategy

Purpose

What we publish, why, and on what engine — a content system sized for a founder's four weekly hours that still compounds like a media operation. Content is our primary demand channel (50 §3); this is its editorial constitution.

Target audience: Founder (writer), PMM hat (editor), future content hire.

1. Editorial Thesis

We publish one thing, in many forms: the truth about work, AI, and trust — from someone who lived it. Not product content with a thought-leadership costume. The reader is the Quiet Demotion demographic (12 §3): smart, burned, allergic to hype. They reward specificity, evidence, and the courage to name what failed — the same properties as the product.

The five standing themes (canon-evolved):

ThemeThe storyCadence
T1 The Human APIFragmentation lived: mornings, handovers, the reconstruction taxWeekly presence
T2 The Quiet DemotionAI trust: what broke it, what restores it (approval, evidence, silence)Weekly presence
T3 The CategoryWork is leaving the apps; what a collaborative-work workspace is; the rubric2×/month
T4 Build in the OpenDesign-partner learnings, honest metrics, the noisy-v1 → good-v4 journey2×/month
T5 The CraftFor technical readers: spine architecture, provenance, governed execution, MCPMonthly

2. The Engine (one essay, five surfaces)

Weekly rhythm (4 founder-hours):

Mon (2h) Write the week's essay (800–1,500 words, one theme, one target query [55 Ring 2])
Tue (30m) Publish: site (canonical) → newsletter [60] → LinkedIn native adaptation [59]
Wed–Fri (3×20m) Derivative posts: one sharp excerpt/day on LinkedIn; comments answered
Fri (30m) Log performance; bank reader replies as future essay seeds

Everything else — webinar talks (61), event talks (63), sales-sequence assets (37 Play 1) — is recycled essays, never net-new writing. The essay is the atom; the system is the reactor.

3. Format Library (complete, reusable)

FormatStructureExample title
The Wound StoryAnecdote (real, anonymized) → the structural cause → the principle → soft bridge"The $8M account nobody saw going red"
The Demotion EssayReader's AI disappointment mirrored → why it was correct → what would have to be true → the rubric"You were right to demote your AI"
The Contrarian TakePopular claim → why it fails operationally → our counter-principle"Autonomous agents are a governance incident with a roadmap"
The TeardownA work ritual dissected minute-by-minute → the tax computed → the alternative"The eight-tab morning, itemized"
The Build LogWhat we tried → what broke → what we learned → honest numbers"Our signal engine was noisy for three versions. Here's v4."
The ExplainerOne concept (22–27 stories rendered) → why it exists → proof beat"Why our AI is designed to stay silent"

4. Standards (the editorial bar)

Every piece: names a failure before a feature (20 §2) · contains ≥ 1 number, mechanism, or evidence artifact · passes the terminology checklist (18 §8) · written in the voice (13 §2): calm, precise, on the human's side · zero hype-words (revolutionize, game-changing, unleash — auto-reject list) · product mentions earn their place or get cut; T1/T2 essays may mention the product only in the final paragraph.

The credibility rule: we publish honest numbers including unflattering ones (build logs showing failure). One inflated claim costs the entire demoted-AI audience — they've been lied to before; that's why they're our audience.

5. Distribution & Compounding

Primary: LinkedIn (59) + newsletter (60) — where the ICP already is. Secondary: HN for T5 craft pieces (technical honesty travels there); community reposts (62). Each quarter: the best 12 essays get audited — top performers become pillar pages (55), webinar topics, and event talks; the corpus is the future book/keynote, deliberately.

KPIs (73 owns dashboards): essays shipped/weeks elapsed ≥ 90% (consistency is the strategy) · subscriber growth ≥ 10%/mo · essay → site CTA rate · content-attributed pipeline (first-touch) · reader-reply rate (the leading indicator of resonance — replies become discovery calls).
