Three Pillars Architecture - Implementation Status

Tier C — Historical. This document is a point-in-time snapshot preserved for reference. For current architecture, see CANONICAL_PLATFORM_ARCHITECTURE.md.

Date: June 27, 2026
Status: COMPLETE & DEPLOYED
Version: v1.0

What Was Delivered

1. Projection Manifest (435 lines)

File: apps/web/lib/projection-manifest.ts

Defines what each frontend can do.

Three complete, production-ready projections:

  • Customer Success (45% platform, 8 capabilities)
  • Executive Dashboard (25% platform, 5 capabilities)
  • Developer Console (40% platform, 8 capabilities)

Each projection includes:

  • Navigation structure
  • Widget definitions
  • Command definitions
  • Required capabilities
  • Permission requirements

2. Gateway SDK (266 lines)

File: apps/web/lib/gateway-sdk.ts

The ONLY way the frontend talks to the backend.

Type-safe client for:

  • Entity360 (entity context)
  • Memory (adaptive memory)
  • Twin (AI/chat capabilities)
  • Signals (risk detection)
  • Insights (AI recommendations)
  • Predictions (forecasts)
  • Handoff (multi-agent coordination)
  • Stream (real-time data)
  • MCP (200+ data sources)
  • Health (system monitoring)

Features:

  • Full TypeScript support
  • Error handling
  • Session token management
  • Singleton pattern

3. Design System (375 lines)

File: apps/web/lib/design-system.ts

Centralizes all design decisions.

Includes:

  • Typography: Sizes, weights, line heights
  • Spacing: Base scale, gaps, padding presets
  • Colors: Semantic design tokens
  • Components: Button, card, input, badge variants
  • Interactions: Transitions, animations, focus/hover states
  • Hierarchy: L1-L6 visual levels
  • Layout: Containers, grid, flexbox patterns
  • Shadows: Depth levels
  • Breakpoints: Responsive design

4. Documentation (580 lines)

File: THREE_PILLARS_ARCHITECTURE.md

Complete guide with:

  • Architecture philosophy
  • Three pillar explanations
  • Code examples
  • Integration patterns
  • Adding new products
  • Benefits analysis
  • Migration guide

5. Index File (69 lines)

File: apps/web/lib/index.ts

Centralized exports:

export { CUSTOMER_SUCCESS_PROJECTION, ... } from './projection-manifest'
export { getGateway, initializeGateway, ... } from './gateway-sdk'
export { designSystem, typography, ... } from './design-system'

Architecture Pattern

Frontend Component
    ↓
Imports three things:
    ├── Projection Manifest (What can I do?)
    ├── Gateway SDK (How do I talk to backend?)
    └── Design System (How do I look?)
    ↓
Component renders UI with structure, data, and styling

Key Principles

  1. Projection Manifest defines product experience

    • What navigation exists
    • What widgets are available
    • What commands are executable
    • What capabilities are required
  2. Gateway SDK provides backend access

    • Only way to call backend
    • Type-safe
    • Centralized error handling
    • Authentication aware
  3. Design System standardizes styling

    • Semantic color tokens
    • Centralized typography
    • Consistent spacing
    • Unified component patterns

Usage Example

import {
  CUSTOMER_SUCCESS_PROJECTION,
  getGateway,
  designSystem,
} from '@/lib'

  const projection = CUSTOMER_SUCCESS_PROJECTION
  const gateway = getGateway()

  // Render navigation from projection
  return (
    <div className={designSystem.layout.flex.col}>
      <nav className="bg-background border-b border-border">
        {projection.navigation.map(item => (
          <a
            key={item.id}
            href={item.href}
            className={`
              px-4 py-2
              ${designSystem.interactions.hover.brighten}
              ${designSystem.interactions.transitions.normal}
            `}
          >
            {item.label}
          </a>
        ))}
      </nav>

      <useEffect(() => {
        gateway.getEntity('customer-123').then(data => {
          setCustomer(data)
        })
      }, [])

      <main className={`p-${designSystem.spacing.scale[6]}`}>

      </main>
    </div>
  )
}
