Human Workbench

One workspace for all human work — the single surface where every person does their job

One Workspace for All Human Work.

The Human Workbench is the single surface where every person in the organization does their job. No context switching between apps. No juggling between tools. One workspace, tailored to each role.

Design Principles

  1. One surface — Every person has one place to work
  2. Role projection — The workbench projects differently per role
  3. Domain awareness — Surfaces adapt to the business domain
  4. KPI visibility — Key metrics are always in view
  5. Zero friction — Work flows through, not around, the workspace

Domain Work Surfaces

Each role gets a tailored view of the work surface. The domain work surface is a projection of the Spine filtered to the user's role, permissions, and current context.

Custom Views

Role-specific and domain-specific projections built from the Spine. Users can create, save, and share custom work surfaces.

Business KPI / Health Overview

The workbench surfaces key metrics at a glance, drawn from the Spine's canonical data:

KPI Rules

  • KPIs are computed from the Spine, not cached or stale
  • Each KPI links to the underlying data for drill-down
  • KPIs are role-scoped — each role sees their relevant metrics
  • Trend indicators show direction and magnitude

Work Flow

Every piece of work in the Human Workbench follows this flow:

Incoming → Orientation → Assessment → Action → Reconciliation → Memory
  1. Incoming — Work arrives via integration, communication, or system event
  2. Orientation — User understands the context and priority
  3. Assessment — User evaluates options (optionally with Twin assistance)
  4. Action — User takes action (with or without Twin suggestion)
  5. Reconciliation — Outcome is verified and recorded
  6. Memory — Learning feeds back into the Spine

Interaction with Twin

The Human Workbench and Twin Workbench are two views of the same work:

  • The Human Workbench shows the human's view of work
  • The Twin Workbench shows the AI's view of the same work
  • Both read from and write to the same Spine
  • The Four Buttons control the interaction:
    • Store in Spine — Capture truth
    • Ask your Twin — Understand the work
    • Assign your Twin — Delegate intent
    • Approve Twin's Action — Authorize execution
