Until Series A, the founder's credibility _is_ the marketing budget — this document is how it's spent.\n\n**Target audience:** Founder (operator), future marketing hire (context for why the machine looks like this).\n\n---\n\n## 1. The Thesis\n\nAt our stage, people don't follow companies — they follow **the person who lived the problem and is building the answer in daylight.** The founder has the two assets no hire can replicate: the biography (MuleSoft architect + CSM — both sides of the problem, [14](../01-foundation/14-founder-story.md)) and the stakes (Customer Zero, building in the open). Founder-led marketing converts those into: audience → trust → pipeline → talent → investor access, in that order.\n\n**The equation:** company accounts amplify; they never originate. The founder's voice originates. This holds until there are humans whose _own_ credibility can carry a surface (first marketing hire earns their own voice, not the founder's hand-me-down).\n\n## 2. The Founder Narrative Arc (12-month public storyline)\n\nNot random posts — a serialized story the audience follows:\n\n| Season             | Months               | Public storyline                                                               | Feeds                                                                    |\n| ------------------ | -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |\n| **S1 The Problem** | Now–launch gate      | The Human API years; the $8M save; why every AI tool failed the real test      | Category priming ([05](../02-category-market/05-category-definition.md)) |\n| **S2 The Build**   | Design-partner phase | Build-in-the-open: noisy signals → v4; design-partner mornings; honest metrics | POV pipeline; talent                                                     |\n| **S3 The Claim**   | Launch ± 30d         | The manifesto; the category; the rubric; the film                              | Launch ([51](../09-gtm/51-launch-strategy.md))                           |\n| **S4 The Proof**   | Post-launch          | Case studies; catches; renewal evidence; \"what 8 design partners taught us\"    | Sales + Series A ([68](../12-corporate/68-fundraising-story.md))         |\n\n## 3. Operating System (inside the 4 content hours [56 §2](56-content-strategy.md))\n\n**Surfaces & split:** LinkedIn 70% (the ICP lives there — [59](59-linkedin-strategy.md) owns tactics) · newsletter 20% ([60](60-newsletter-strategy.md)) · podcasts/webinars/events 10% (accept when audience-fit, never for vanity — [61](61-webinar-strategy.md), [63](63-events-strategy.md)).\n\n**The DM protocol (where content becomes pipeline):** every substantive comment/reply from an ICP-shaped person gets a personal response within 24h · replies that reveal pain get the soft bridge: _\"That eight-tab morning you described — that's literally what we're building against. Want to see what we've got? No pitch, 20 minutes.\"_ · logged as sourced pipeline ([74](../13-operations/74-sales-metrics.md)). Target: 2–4 discovery calls/week from content by launch.\n\n**Voice rules for the founder surface:** first person, specific, scarred — \"I rebuilt this dashboard three times\" beats any framework · share numbers including bad ones · never subtweet competitors; name _categories_ of failure ([09 rules](../02-category-market/09-competitive-battle-cards.md)) · politics/culture-war: out of scope, permanently · when wrong publicly, correct publicly — the brand is evidence-discipline ([13](../01-foundation/13-brand-story.md)).\n\n## 4. Boundaries (what founder-led is _not_)\n\nNot a personal brand project — every season maps to a company objective above · not a substitute for selling (content hours are capped so selling hours survive [50 §5](../09-gtm/50-gtm-strategy.md)) · not confessional theater — build-in-the-open shares _learnings with numbers_, never runway anxiety, customer specifics, or half-decisions (investors and buyers both read everything) · not permanent — the succession plan is explicit: by Series A, the machine ([56](56-content-strategy.md)) must run with the founder as _a_ voice, not _the_ channel.\n\n**Risk ledger:** bus-factor (mitigate: the essay corpus is an asset that persists) · burnout (mitigate: the batch rhythm, formats library, recycling engine — nothing is written twice) · voice-drift when delegating (mitigate: [13 Brand Story](../01-foundation/13-brand-story.md) voice table is the editor's contract).\n\n**KPIs:** season milestones shipped on schedule · follower growth quality (ICP share of new followers, sampled monthly) · content-sourced discovery calls/week (the number that matters) · DM-protocol response rate ≥ 90% within 24h · founder-content → pipeline attribution in [73](../13-operations/73-marketing-metrics.md).\n\n---\n\n**Related:** [56 Content Strategy](56-content-strategy.md) · [59 LinkedIn](59-linkedin-strategy.md) · [14 Founder Story](../01-foundation/14-founder-story.md) · [50 GTM](../09-gtm/50-gtm-strategy.md)\n"}
