In most AI sales, governance is the objection; in ours, it's the plot.\n\n**Definition (verbatim):** _The approval, policy, and audit framework wrapped around every consequential action._\n\n---\n\n## 1. The Story\n\nEvery AI vendor says \"trust us.\" The market answered: 82% see AI data collection as a threat; 76% of enterprises require human oversight; ~80% of adopters quietly demoted their AI. Trust-by-assertion failed.\n\nIntegrateWise doesn't ask for trust. It removes the need for it. Governance here is not a settings page — it is the physics of the system:\n\n- **Memory is gated.** AI proposes knowledge; a human approves; only then does it enter the Spine (TruthLayer). Your organization's memory contains nothing a person didn't verify.\n- **Action is gated.** The proposal lifecycle — draft → review → approved → executing → completed — is the only path to execution. A proposal is not an approval; an AI message is never an approval.\n- **Everything is attributed.** Every fact carries source and confidence; every proposal carries evidence; every approval carries an identity; every execution carries a result. Provenance and authority are preserved _separately_ — you can always answer \"who knew what, who decided what, on what basis.\"\n- **Boundaries fail closed.** Every cross-boundary exchange is identity-bound, tenant-scoped, purpose-declared, time-bounded, and policy-checked — and when any check can't complete, the answer is no. A clever prompt cannot talk the platform out of policy.\n- **Nobody is above it.** Not the model, not an admin shortcut, not us. Governance never closes.\n\n**The reframe (say it early in every telling):** governance is not the tax on AI's power. Governance is _why the AI gets real work._ Teams give consequential work to the Twin precisely because nothing consequential happens without them. Approval is the feature that ends the quiet demotion.\n\n## 2. The Doctrine Lines (verbatim, choose by audience)\n\n- \"The Twin prepares. The human approves.\" — universal\n- \"Truth you own. AI you rent. Approval in between.\" — executive signature\n- \"AI never owns organizational truth. The Adaptive Spine owns truth.\" — CIO/architecture\n- \"Nothing executes without approval. Everything leaves a trail.\" — security shorthand\n\n## 3. Audience Renderings\n\n| Audience              | Governance in one line                                                                                                                                       |\n| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |\n| Practitioner          | \"Nothing sends, changes, or 'learns' behind your back — you'd see your own approval on it.\"                                                                  |\n| CS/Sales leader       | \"Put AI in front of customers safely: every outbound draft shows its evidence and waits for a human.\"                                                        |\n| CISO                  | \"Mandatory HITL on memory and action, per-field provenance, tenant isolation, immutable audit, fail-closed boundaries — by architecture, not configuration.\" |\n| Regulator-minded exec | \"Oversight requirements aren't a burden we accommodate — they're the design we started from.\"                                                                |\n| Investor              | \"The market is correcting from autonomy to accountability; our hardest-to-copy asset is being on the right side of that correction structurally.\"            |\n\n## 4. Proof Beats\n\n1. The memory gate: watch AI-proposed knowledge wait for approval — then check the Spine before and after.\n2. The action receipt: one audit view from evidence to execution.\n3. The fail-closed refusal (shared with [26](26-capability-fabric-story.md)) — deny a boundary, watch the platform say no.\n4. The boring audit log, scrolled slowly. Boring is the point; say so.\n\n## 5. Telling Rules\n\n- Governance appears in the **climax** of every product story, never the caveats section ([19 §4](19-product-narrative.md)).\n- Never \"guardrails\" (implies bolted-on), never \"safety features\" (implies the default is unsafe). It's _architecture_.\n- Pair every power claim with its gate in the same breath — the rhythm of all our copy.\n\n**KPIs:** security-review pass rate and cycle time; % of demos where the approval moment lands as designed (call reviews); zero unapproved actions — the permanent, headline metric ([42 Security FAQ](../07-sales/42-security-faq.md)).\n\n---\n\n**Related:** [26 Capability Story](26-capability-fabric-story.md) · [22 Spine Story](22-adaptive-spine-story.md) · [42 Security FAQ](../07-sales/42-security-faq.md) · [27→65 crisis statement template](../12-corporate/65-press-kit.md)\n"}
