It is the semantic substrate that gives the entire workspace meaning.\n\n\n```text\n                    ORGANIZATIONAL BUSINESS\n                              │\n                              ▼\n                 BUSINESS CONTEXT SPINE\n               ───────────────────────────\n                 The semantic substrate\n               THE organization's memory\n                              │\n        ┌─────────────────────┼─────────────────────┐\n        ▼                     ▼                     ▼\n     Human Workbench     AI Workbench          Shared Work\n        │                     │                     │\n  Personal Memory       AI Continuity       Organizational\n   (serves BC)           (serves BC)          Memory (THE)\n```\n\n## What Business Context Is\n\nBusiness Context is the **connected representation of organizational business reality** — what the business is, what it is trying to achieve, who is involved, what is happening, what was decided, and what should happen next.\n\nIt answers for every object or activity:\n\n| Object | Business Context question |\n|---|---|\n| **People** | Who is responsible and accountable? |\n| **Work** | What business objective or outcome does it serve? |\n| **AI** | Why is AI involved and what business context is it operating within? |\n| **Agents** | What organizational role and responsibility does an agent represent? |\n| **Knowledge** | What does the organization know about its business? |\n| **Memory** | What continuity matters to the organization, person, or AI? |\n| **Capabilities** | What can be done in service of the business? |\n| **Tools / ecosystems** | Where does the underlying business information or action reside? |\n| **Communication** | What business context does the conversation belong to? |\n| **Decisions** | What was decided, by whom, under what authority? |\n| **Governance** | What is permitted in this context? |\n| **Execution** | What business action is being performed? |\n| **Evidence** | What proves what actually happened? |\n| **Projection** | What portion of reality should this participant see? |\n| **Continuity** | What needs to persist so work can continue intelligently? |\n\n> **The Spine is not primarily an integration layer or data store. It is the semantic operating substrate through which organizational business becomes contextual, actionable and continuous.**\n\n## What Business Context Contains\n\n* **Business** — mission, objectives, goals, KPIs, operating model\n* **Entities** — accounts, opportunities, cases, invoices, people, products, and their canonical types\n* **Relationships** — how entities connect (account → opportunity → work → outcome)\n* **Goals & KPIs** — what the organization is aiming at, how it measures progress\n* **Knowledge** — accumulated organizational knowledge, not just raw data\n* **Decisions** — what was decided, by whom, with what authority and evidence\n* **Work** — the common unit of activity that carries objective, context, and state\n* **State** — current and historical truth, with provenance\n* **Evidence** — what proves what happened (execution receipts, verification)\n* **Organizational Memory** — durable business memory that survives sessions, devices, and agents\n\n## Business Context vs. Spine vs. Memory\n\n| Term | Meaning |\n|---|---|\n| **Business Context** | The semantic concept — the connected business reality that gives everything meaning |\n| **Business Context Spine** | The durable, governed substrate that **holds** Business Context — THE organization's memory | \n| **Organizational Memory** | The durable business memory *inside* the Spine — what the organization accepts as truth |\n| **Personal Contextual Memory** | The human's working continuity — operates **on** Business Context, does not replace it |\n| **AI Continuity Memory** | The AI's working continuity — operates **on** Business Context, does not replace it |\n\n```text\nUser thought ≠ AI inference ≠ Organizational truth\n```\n\nA personal memory item remains personal unless deliberately shared/promoted. An AI working item remains AI working continuity unless promoted through Triage / Governance / governed write path.\n\n## The Business Context Hierarchy\n\n```text\nLevel 1: Business Context\n   ├── What business are we in?\n   ├── What are our goals?\n   └── What are our constraints?\n         │\n         ▼\nLevel 2: Domain Context\n   ├── Account Success, Sales, Marketing, Support, Finance, Ops, Product & Eng, Founder/Exec …\n   └── Each with canonical entities and relationships\n         │\n         ▼\nLevel 3: Work Context\n   ├── Current Work, related entities, previous interactions, next steps\n   └── Active Context Bundle for the participant\n         │\n         ▼\nLevel 4: Decision Context\n   ├── Relevant data, past decisions, policies, suggestions, approvals\n   └── What is needed to decide and to be audited after\n```\n\n## How Business Context Becomes Truth\n\nBusiness Context is not asserted. It is **established through governed process**:\n\n```text\nExternal Systems\n      │\n      ▼\n   Loader → Normalizer → Pipeline → Governed Writer\n      │\n      ▼\nBusiness Context Spine\n      │\n      ▼\n Projection → Human Workbench / AI Workbench\n      │\n      ▼\n   Work → Governance → Hermes → External System → Outcome\n      │\n      ▼\n Re-ingest → Verify → Reconcile → Update Spine → Rehydrate\n```\n\nProvider schema is **never** canonical. Every inbound record is normalized, deduplicated, linked, and governed before it can become Business Context.\n\n## Feature Test\n\n> **If a feature cannot explain how it relates to Business Context, Work, or a Business Outcome, it does not yet have a meaningful place in SpineWorkspace.**\n\nThis is the filter for every surface, capability, agent, and integration.\n\n## Where to Go Next\n\n<CardGroup cols={2}>\n  \n    The single mental model around this substrate.\n  \n  \n    How this context is projected to the human.\n  \n  \n    How the Spine holds entities, events, state, knowledge, and provenance.\n  \n  \n    Three domains — organizational as THE memory, personal and AI as serving continuities.\n  \n</CardGroup>\n"}
