WHAT HERMES IS\n\nHermes is the cognitive orchestration runtime.\n\nHermes interprets signals, coordinates reasoning, selects capabilities, uses tools, coordinates agents, generates proposals, and coordinates action execution.\n\nHermes does not own canonical truth.\n\n```text\nCONTEXT\n   ↓\nHERMES\n   ├── interpret signals\n   ├── coordinate reasoning\n   ├── select capabilities\n   ├── use tools\n   ├── coordinate agents\n   ├── generate proposals\n   └── coordinate action execution\n```\n\n---\n\n## 2. HERMES OWNERSHIP LAW\n\nHermes may infer.\nHermes may propose.\nHermes may coordinate.\nHermes must not be documented as the canonical Spine writer.\n\nHistorical documents that assign canonical truth, canonical state ownership, or sole operational authorship to Hermes are inaccurate unless additional founder authorization is recorded.\n\nCurrent canon forbids any model from owning canonical truth.\n\n---\n\n## 3. Document migration state explicitly.\n\n---\n\n## 4. TWIN AND HERMES DISTINCTION\n\nTwin is a silent partner inside L1 Workbench.\n\nHermes is the cognitive orchestration runtime.\n\nTwin and Hermes are not the same runtime identity.\n\nTwin-authored proposals surface through L1 buttons (Four-Button OODA Grammar):\n\n- Store in Spine (OBSERVE)\n- Ask Your Twin (ORIENT)\n- Assign Your Twin (DECIDE)\n- Approve Twin's Action (ACT)\n\nHermes owns the coordination path behind proposal generation and action orchestration.\n\nDocuments that blur Hermes and Twin roles must be reviewed and classified as CONTRADICTORY or HISTORICAL.\n\n---\n\n## 5. RUNTIME EVIDENCE\n\nCurrent wrangler manifests show:\n\n- services/hermes/wrangler.toml name = integratewise-hermes\n- services/iw-agent-runtime/wrangler.toml name = iw-agent-runtime\n- services/twin-orchestrator/wrangler.toml name = twin-orchestrator\n\nAll three Worker identities exist in repo manifests. Deployment, routing, and call-graph evidence are required before classifying each as CURRENT operational runtime.\n\nHermes does not require these historic workers to remain alive. Their current lifecycle state must be classified per Option B evidence and runtime audit.\n\n---\n\n## 6. DOCUMENTS THAT PRECEDE THIS\n\n- docs/CANON.md\n- docs/FINAL_E2E_SYSTEM.md\n- docs/platform-specs/23-agent-runtime.md\n- docs/platform-specs/10-signal-engine.md\n- docs/ip/tech/TWIN_AS_COGNITIVE_ORCHESTRATOR.md\n\nWhen conflict arises between this document and those documents, this document is canonical.\n"}
